Heavy monsoon rain flooded parts of Mumbai, disrupting daily life in India’s financial capital, Al Jazeera reported. The India Meteorological Department forecast more heavy rainfall through the weekend, raising the risk of continued disruption.

According to Al Jazeera, the downpours inundated areas of the city and caused widespread flooding. Traffic congestion also hit Mumbai as rainwater affected movement across parts of the city.

The report described the rainfall as part of an intense monsoon spell. Mumbai, a major commercial hub, often sees daily routines strained when heavy rain overwhelms roads and low-lying areas.

The India Meteorological Department said more heavy rain was expected through the weekend, according to Al Jazeera. Officials’ forecast means residents and commuters could face further delays and waterlogging if the rain continues.
