SDCC 2026 trailers spotlight Neuromancer and Blade Runner 2099
The Verge reports new Comic-Con previews for Blade Runner 2099, Neuromancer, Carrie, Lanterns and more, with dates across streaming and theaters.

The SDCC 2026 trailers slate leaned hard into science fiction, cyberpunk and streaming genre TV, according to The Verge. The weekend also brought fresh dates and casting news, giving viewers a clearer calendar for several major shows and films.
The Verge reported that Marvel used San Diego Comic-Con to identify Ryan Gosling as the next Ghost Rider and David Jonsson as the next Black Panther. The event also brought dates for God of War: Laufey, listed for February 16th, and the fourth and final season of Silo, set for summer 2027.
What trailers were shown at SDCC 2026?
According to The Verge, the most prominent first looks included Amazon’s Blade Runner 2099 and Apple TV’s Neuromancer, two adaptations with clear cyberpunk appeal. A cyberpunk story usually centers on advanced technology, corporate or state power, and characters living at the margins of a high-tech society.
The Verge said Amazon first disclosed work on a Blade Runner series in 2022. Blade Runner 2099 is set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 and stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer as a blade runner and a replicant pushed into working together. The limited series is due to stream in full on November 25th.
Apple TV’s Neuromancer, based on William Gibson’s cyberpunk novel, stars Callum Turner as what The Verge described from the show materials as “a damaged, top-rung super-hacker.” The series is scheduled to begin streaming on January 22nd.
Apple TV also showed more from Dark Matter season 2, The Verge reported. The new season starts August 28th, with the trailer pointing to a widening multiverse story about a family trying to find safety across infinite worlds.
Amazon and HBO added horror, fantasy and DC previews
Amazon’s other Comic-Con trailers included Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s series adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, according to The Verge. Flanagan previously adapted King material with Doctor Sleep and The Life of Chuck, and Carrie starts streaming on October 7th.
Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns for season 3 on November 11th, The Verge reported. Simon Pegg joins the cast as the voice of a Balrog.
HBO’s Lanterns also received a Comic-Con look, according to The Verge. The DC series stars Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as intergalactic investigators drawn into an Earth-based murder mystery with cosmic connections, and it premieres August 16th.
Other SDCC 2026 release dates
Futurama season 14 starts streaming on Disney Plus and Hulu on August 3rd, The Verge reported, with its trailer including pop stars and vampires.
Common Side Effects season 2 is planned for 2027, according to The Verge, following an Adult Swim first season centered in part on dangers in the US healthcare system.
A24’s Onslaught, directed by Adam Wingard, reaches theaters September 4th, The Verge reported. Its story follows a mother protecting her daughter from genetically engineered super soldiers.
Queen of the Damned, the next chapter in Anne Rice’s vampire saga, introduces Akasha, though The Verge said no premiere date has been announced.
Transformers: The Movie is getting a 4K theatrical re-release for its 40th anniversary on September 17th, according to The Verge.
