Apple has released iOS 27.2, expanding Siri AI with conversation memory, access to more personal information sources and support for five additional languages. The iOS 27.2 Siri AI update also adds message-based action suggestions, while eligibility remains limited to certain iPhones and Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU and mainland China, Apple says.
The release builds on Siri AI features introduced with iOS 27 rather than replacing the assistant. Apple says the new version can retain useful context from earlier exchanges, allowing users to ask about information Siri gave them previously.
What new Siri AI features are in iOS 27.2?
According to Apple’s release notes, Siri AI can now draw on more personal-context sources when responding. Those sources include photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, Safari history and Reading List results.
Apple also added an Excluded Apps setting, which lets users choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access. A separate change allows users to select and copy only part of a Siri response.
- New Siri AI language support: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
- Suggestions in Messages that can propose actions in Calendar and Reminders based on a conversation, such as creating a calendar entry from a dinner invitation.
- Siri AI support on all iPhone 16 models and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple says Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China. The company also says some features can vary by region or iPhone model, and that usage limits may apply to some Apple Intelligence features.
Other iOS changes and the macOS update
iOS 27.2 also updates Shared Albums in Photos with caption and comment editing, duplicate-photo avoidance and reminders before albums expire, according to Apple. The company lists SynthID watermarking support in Photos and Image Playground, separate New Episodes and Continue Playing sections in Podcasts, and household viewing profiles in the Apple TV app.
FaceTime can now include a third-party sign-language interpreter or live captioner on a call, Apple says. The Games app adds information around friend suggestions and recently played games on friends’ player pages.
Ars Technica reported that Apple released macOS Golden Gate 27.2 alongside the iPhone update. The Mac release reportedly includes Siri contextual memory, the same additional Siri AI languages, Suggestions in Messages, bug fixes and security updates. The available information does not specify which Mac models support the new Siri functions.
The update cycle also brings a visual change to Apple Music. MacRumors reported that the Music icon moved to a black-and-white design during the iOS 27.2 beta, with blue replacing red for selected navigation highlights. Apple’s published iOS 27.2 release notes do not list the Music branding change.
