Samsung has set its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22, signaling another round of product launches in its foldable phone lineup. The company’s invitation uses the phrase “A new shape unfolds,” pointing attention toward a possible change in Samsung’s foldable designs.
Samsung said the event will take place in London and begin at 9 a.m. ET. The company has not detailed the products it plans to announce, but the wording and imagery in the invitation suggest foldables will be central to the presentation.
According to The Verge, Samsung has been rumored to be preparing a third foldable phone format. The reported design would be shorter and wider than the company’s existing large book-style foldables.
The Verge reported that Samsung’s invitation reinforces that expectation by showing a tall ticket with a torn-off stub, leaving the remaining shape shorter than before. Samsung’s current foldable lineup includes the clamshell-style Flip and the larger book-style Fold, and a wider model would add another size and shape to that range.
The reported format would put Samsung closer to devices and designs already shaping the foldable market. The Verge pointed to Huawei’s Pura X Max as a comparison, and also cited Apple’s expected foldable iPhone as another product thought to use a wider approach.
Existing Fold and Flip models may also get updates
Samsung is also expected to refresh its current foldable phones, according to The Verge. That could mean new versions of both the Flip and Fold lines, though Samsung has not announced those devices ahead of the event.
The Verge reported that the next large Fold model could be renamed the Z Fold 8 Ultra. That branding would help separate it from the rumored new form factor if Samsung introduces another foldable alongside its established models.
Wearables may also be part of the July 22 event. The Verge said new Galaxy Watch models are likely, including possible updates to both the standard Galaxy Watch and the higher-end Ultra version.
Galaxy Unpacked is Samsung’s main stage for major consumer device announcements, and the July event gives the company a chance to show how it plans to expand foldables beyond its existing two-shape lineup. For now, Samsung has confirmed the date, location and teaser line, while the specific phones and watches remain unannounced.
