The Samsung G50SF deal at Amazon brings the 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor down to $299.99 after a $50 discount. The price matters because The Verge says QD-OLED gaming displays have become easier to find below $500, while models below $300 remain uncommon.
Samsung’s G50SF launched at $499.99, according to The Verge. Over the past six months, the monitor has moved between $350 and $450 before this drop to the $300 mark at Amazon.
What do you get with the Samsung G50SF deal?
The monitor is a 27-inch, 1440p QD-OLED gaming display with a thin design, variable refresh rate support and a 0.03-millisecond response time, according to The Verge. It reaches up to 180Hz over DisplayPort and up to 144Hz over HDMI.
The port selection includes DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0 and a headphone jack. The Verge notes that many competing monitors include two HDMI ports, so buyers who rely on multiple HDMI devices may need to factor that into the decision.
The G50SF is priced below Alienware’s AW2726DM, which The Verge described as a $350 QD-OLED competitor. The Samsung model may be less appealing to shoppers who want a 240Hz-or-faster refresh rate, but the reported specifications put it in line with several core expectations for a modern QD-OLED gaming monitor.
Why are QD-OLED monitor prices getting attention?
The Verge says QD-OLED gaming monitor prices are falling even as many PC components continue to sit above typical levels. For shoppers with a $300 ceiling, that makes the G50SF’s current price notable because it puts a recent Samsung QD-OLED display at a level more often associated with lower-tier gaming monitors.
QD-OLED monitors are sought by many PC gamers because they combine OLED-style pixel response with high refresh rates and strong contrast. In this case, the relevant buying question is narrower: whether a 180Hz DisplayPort limit and one HDMI port fit the setup the buyer already has.
