Ryan Gosling Ghost Rider film leads Marvel Comic-Con announcements
Marvel said Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider, while Black Panther III got a 2028 release date and a new lead character.

Marvel used Comic-Con to set up several MCU projects, led by the Ryan Gosling Ghost Rider announcement. The studio said Gosling will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a standalone Ghost Rider film directed by Shawn Levy, with release planned for sometime in 2028.
The casting gives Marvel another high-profile actor for a solo feature as the studio fills out its late-decade slate. Levy is identified with Deadpool & Wolverine, and Marvel presented the Ghost Rider film as a separate project rather than part of an ensemble title.

Ghost Rider is a Marvel character tied to supernatural powers and a flaming motorcycle, though Marvel’s Comic-Con presentation focused on the casting and release timing rather than plot details. No additional cast members for Gosling’s film were announced in the presentation described by Marvel.
Who is the new Black Panther?
Marvel also brought Ryan Coogler to the stage to confirm Black Panther III for December 15, 2028. Coogler introduced David Jonsson as T’Chala’s son and the new Black Panther for the franchise.
Jonsson’s recent credits include The Long Walk and Alien Romulus, according to Marvel’s presentation. The announcement establishes the next on-screen Black Panther while placing the third film on the calendar for the same year as the new Ghost Rider movie.
The studio did not describe the story of Black Panther III or name other returning cast members during the announcements reported from the event. Coogler’s confirmation centered on the release date and Jonsson’s role.
What else did Marvel show at Comic-Con?
Marvel screened a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday and appeared to hint at another possible addition to that film’s cast. Ryan Reynolds appeared in the audience as Deadpool and asked directors Joe and Anthony Russo whether there was room for him in the movie.
The Russo brothers said the film was basically finished but that they might be able to work something out. Marvel also confirmed Hayley Atwell will return as Peggy Carter.
The announcements add several familiar names to Marvel’s upcoming film plans: Gosling in a new solo role, Jonsson as the next Black Panther, Reynolds potentially circling Avengers: Doomsday, and Atwell returning to the MCU.
