LG’s 27-inch UltraGear 27GX704A-B gaming monitor is selling for $379.99 at Amazon and through LG, a discount of about $70 from its recent $449 price. The Verge reported that the price is a new low for the glossy OLED display, which launched at $799.99 and has been available below $500 since May.

The deal is notable because the monitor combines a glossy WOLED panel with a 1440p resolution at a price below $400. The Verge reported that OLED gaming monitors in this price range more often use QD-OLED panels, which can give black tones a slight blue cast.

LG’s model uses a WOLED panel, which The Verge said produces more natural-looking blacks. The glossy finish is also described as helping colors look richer and more vibrant, a feature that can appeal to players who want stronger contrast and color presentation from a desktop gaming display.

Price and availability

Amazon lists the LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B at $379.99, down from $449. LG’s own online store shows the same sale price for the 27-inch gaming monitor.

The monitor’s launch price was $799.99, according to The Verge. The display has been sold for less than $500 since May, making the latest sale another step down for buyers tracking OLED gaming monitor prices.

Gaming features

LG lists the 27GX704A-B with a 240Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate support and a 0.03ms response time. The monitor is Nvidia G-Sync compatible and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, according to the product details cited by The Verge.

Those specs place the display in a category aimed at fast PC and console gaming, where high refresh rates and low response times can help keep motion clear. The monitor’s 1440p resolution also gives it a sharper image than a 1080p screen while avoiding the higher hardware demands of 4K.

Ports and setup

The 27GX704A-B includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-A ports, according to the product information. That port selection supports connections for a gaming PC, consoles and accessories.

LG’s stand allows height adjustment, tilt, swivel and rotation into portrait orientation. The monitor also supports VESA mounting, so it can be attached to a compatible monitor arm instead of the included stand.
