HBO Max is discounting its annual subscriptions for new and returning customers, lowering the upfront cost of all three yearly plans by 28%, The Verge reported. The promotion runs through July 15, 2026, and may appeal to viewers willing to pay for a full year rather than renew month to month.
According to The Verge, the ad-supported Basic annual plan is now $78.99, a $31 reduction. The Standard annual plan is $132.99 after a $52 discount, while the Premium annual plan is $164.99 after $65 off.
The Verge reported that those annual prices can work out to as much as 40% below the cost of paying monthly for the same service. The offer applies to any of HBO Max’s yearly tiers, according to the report.
What each plan includes
All three plans provide access to HBO Max’s movie and television catalog, The Verge reported. The service includes films from Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, A24, Studio Ghibli and Turner Classic Movies, according to the report.
The Verge said subscribers can also watch recent Oscar winners and nominees including Sinners, One Battle After Another and Marty Supreme, along with HBO Max originals. The service’s TV lineup includes The Pitt, Hacks, Euphoria and Heated Rivalry, as well as older series such as Game of Thrones, Friends and The Big Bang Theory, according to The Verge.
The main differences among the plans are features, The Verge reported. The Basic tier includes ads and allows streaming on as many as two devices at once.
The Standard plan adds offline viewing, with downloads for up to 30 shows and movies, according to The Verge. It also includes live sports, with coverage from MLB, U.S. Soccer, college football, the NHL and other sports, the report said.
The Premium tier raises simultaneous streaming to as many as four devices, The Verge reported. It also supports 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos and expands offline downloads to 100 titles, according to the report.
Deal timing
The discounted annual rates are available only during the promotion window, which The Verge said ends July 15, 2026. The report described the offer as available to both people signing up for the first time and those coming back to the service.
For households that already expect to keep HBO Max for a year, the sale reduces the total upfront price compared with the regular annual cost, according to The Verge. The trade-off is that subscribers must commit to a yearly plan to get the discounted rates.
