A Fire TV Stick 4K deal has brought Amazon’s two 4K streaming sticks back to their lowest prices to date, according to The Verge. The sale matters for shoppers who want a low-cost streaming upgrade with 4K video support and Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV software.
Best Buy and Target are selling the Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $34.99, a $25 discount from its $59.99 list price, according to retailer listings cited by The Verge. The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is also $25 off at both retailers, bringing it to $24.99 from $49.99.
Which Fire TV Stick 4K deal is better?
The Fire TV Stick 4K Max is the higher-end option. The Verge reports that it has 16GB of internal storage, twice as much as the Plus, and supports Wi-Fi 6E, while the Plus supports Wi-Fi 6.
The Max is also the only stick in this lineup with Amazon’s Fire TV Ambient Experience, according to The Verge. That feature can turn a television into a smart-display-like screen for artwork and Alexa widgets, including calendar items and sticky notes, when video is not playing.
The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus costs $10 less in this sale and keeps many of the same core entertainment features. The Verge reports that both sticks support Dolby Vision, HDR10 Plus and Dolby Atmos audio, provided the connected sound system can use it.
What does the updated Fire TV software do?
Amazon’s revised Fire TV interface is designed to make content easier to find across streaming subscriptions, according to The Verge. It includes recommendations, dedicated areas for categories such as TV shows and sports, and the ability to pin as many as 20 favorite apps.
Both sticks also include Alexa Plus features, The Verge reports. Users can ask by voice to open content in specific streaming apps, search for particular scenes, control compatible smart home devices or show a live feed from connected Ring cameras on the TV.
