Best Buy discounts Kindle Paperwhite, Scribe and Kids e-readers
The retailer’s Black Friday in July sale cuts the Kindle Paperwhite to $124.99 and lowers prices on several other Amazon e-readers.

Best Buy has reduced prices on several Amazon Kindle models during its Black Friday in July sale, according to The Verge. The discounts matter for shoppers looking for an e-reader before the school year or a trip, with the Kindle Paperwhite returning to $124.99, which The Verge described as its all-time low.
The Verge said the 12th-generation Kindle Paperwhite is $35 off at Best Buy, where the ad-supported 16GB model is listed at $124.99. Target is offering the same $124.99 price on the ad-supported Paperwhite, according to the retailer listings cited by The Verge.
The Paperwhite is the model The Verge recommends for most buyers. The publication said it has a 7-inch, 300ppi display, waterproofing, adjustable warm lighting for nighttime reading and battery life that can last more than a month on one charge.
Other Kindle deals
Best Buy also cut the Kindle Kids to $99.99, a $30 discount, according to The Verge. The Kids model uses the same hardware as the standard Kindle, and The Verge said it includes a child-focused cover, no lock-screen ads, a two-year worry-free guarantee and six months of Amazon Kids Plus.
The Verge said Target is also selling the Kindle Kids for $99.99. The 2024 Kindle Kids has a 300ppi display and USB-C charging, according to The Verge.
Amazon’s color e-reader line is discounted as well, though The Verge’s report lists differing prices for the 16GB Kindle Colorsoft. The publication said Best Buy has the Kindle Colorsoft on sale and described it as an option for comics, with a color E Ink screen that displays color at up to 150ppi.
The Verge listed the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition at $219.99 at Best Buy, a $60 discount. That model has 32GB of storage and wireless charging, according to the publication.
Scribe models get larger discounts
For buyers who want an e-reader that can also handle notes, The Verge said Best Buy is selling the Kindle Scribe from $379.99, a $120 discount. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft starts at $479.99 at Best Buy, $150 off, according to The Verge.
Both Scribe models have 11-inch displays and include a stylus, The Verge said. The devices can be used for writing notes, marking up Kindle books and annotating documents, and they include notebook templates and AI tools for summarizing notes or cleaning up handwriting, according to the publication.
The main difference is the display, The Verge said: the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft adds color E Ink, which the publication described as better suited for color documents and organizing notes with different colors. The Verge also said the 32GB Kindle Scribe model has a larger screen than its 10.2-inch predecessor.
Other electronics offers
The Verge also noted several non-Kindle deals. The Google Store is including a Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel 7 case with a refurbished 128GB Pixel 7 priced at $329 through Aug. 28, according to the publication.
Best Buy is selling a Ring Battery Doorbell 2K and Indoor Cam Plus bundle for $69.99, a $70 discount, The Verge said. Amazon has the rechargeable Gooloo F3 Air Duster for $33.99, $16 off, according to The Verge.
