Israeli attacks killed two Palestinians on Wednesday, including a 12-year-old child in southern Gaza and a 29-year-old man in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian health officials and Al Jazeera. The deaths came as Gaza remains under a ceasefire that Palestinian officials and Al Jazeera say Israel has repeatedly violated.

Health officials at Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza told Al Jazeera that an Israeli drone strike hit al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killing the child and wounding several other people. Al Jazeera correspondent Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City, said the strike hit a tent in an area Israel had designated a “safe zone.”

Khoudary said the child was named Ahmed and that at least seven Palestinians were injured in the same attack. She also reported that Israeli forces carried out another attack on the western side of Gaza on Tuesday night.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health said Israeli attacks have killed at least 1,027 people and wounded 3,280 others since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025. The ministry said the overall toll since the war began in October 2023 has reached 73,041 Palestinians killed and 173,402 wounded.

UN inquiry cited attacks on children

The Gaza strike followed a report by a United Nations commission of inquiry that found Israel’s deliberate targeting of children formed part of what the commission described as an ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Srinivasan Muralidhar, who chairs the commission, said the evidence showed Palestinian children had been “deliberately targeted and killed” by Israeli forces.

Muralidhar also said children had continued to be killed and badly wounded after the October 2025 ceasefire, accusing Israel of disregarding both the truce and its obligations under international law to protect Palestinian children.

Khoudary said doctors in Gaza were struggling to treat people wounded in Israeli strikes because Israeli authorities continue to restrict medical supplies and medicines from entering the territory.

Fatal raid near Jenin

In the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli forces shot and killed Mohammed Nazem Zayed, 29, during a raid on al-Yamoun, a town west of Jenin. The ministry said Israeli troops were withholding his body.

Al Jazeera reporters said an Israeli special forces unit entered al-Yamoun on Wednesday afternoon, surrounded a house where Zayed was located, opened fire and left him bleeding. The Israeli news site Walla reported that soldiers from the army’s Duvdevan unit killed a Palestinian during what it described as an “operational activity” in the town.

At least 71 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank since the start of 2026, according to the figures cited by Al Jazeera. Official Palestinian figures cited by Al Jazeera say Israeli military and settler violence in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war has killed 1,173 Palestinians, wounded 12,666, led to about 23,000 arrests and displaced 33,000 people.
