RingConn is marking the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings with a limited promotion for its Gen 3 smart ring, according to the company. The offer matters for wearable buyers because the first 3,500 US purchases are set to include a themed accessory rather than only the usual health-tracking hardware.
According to a RingConn announcement distributed through PRNewswire, the promotion begins June 27. RingConn says the first 3,500 Gen 3 buyers in the US will receive a Lord of the Rings-themed charging case pouch.
RingConn says customers who buy after that initial batch will receive digital movie codes. The company did not provide additional pricing or availability details in the material cited by The Verge.
How RingConn is framing the tie-in
RingConn’s marketing connects the fantasy series to the company’s wellness pitch. According to RingConn, The Lord of the Rings reflects the idea that personal change can grow out of daily choices, and the company says its smart rings are built around similar habits of awareness and small decisions.
The Verge noted the awkwardness of that framing because the central ring in The Lord of the Rings is not a wellness device. In the story, Frodo’s choices include resisting the One Ring and destroying it, while RingConn’s product is designed to be worn continuously for health tracking.
The promotion uses imagery and branding from Warner Bros. Entertainment, according to the image credit cited by The Verge. RingConn’s campaign page identified the product tied to the offer as the RingConn Gen 3.
Battery life context
The Verge also pointed to its prior smart ring coverage for battery-life context. Victoria Song of The Verge reported that RingConn’s Gen 2 Air lasts roughly eight to nine days on a charge.
That battery-life note applies to the Gen 2 Air, while RingConn’s new promotion is for the Gen 3. The cited material does not state Gen 3 battery life for the anniversary offer.
The campaign places RingConn among wearable companies trying to sell smart rings as daily health companions. In this case, the hook is a movie anniversary package that pairs the Gen 3 ring with either a themed pouch for early US buyers or digital movie codes for later purchasers, according to RingConn.
