Amazon cuts Kindle Paperwhite to $124.99 for Prime Day
The standard Kindle Paperwhite and Signature Edition are both discounted in Amazon’s Prime Day sale, according to The Verge.

Amazon has lowered prices on Kindle Paperwhite models for Prime Day, putting one of its main e-readers back near the center of the sale. The deal matters for buyers weighing an e-reader because The Verge says the Paperwhite adds waterproofing and other features that the cheaper entry-level Kindle lacks.
The latest Kindle Paperwhite with 16GB of storage and ads is selling for $124.99 at Amazon, according to The Verge. That is $35 below its usual $160 price, or 22 percent off, based on the pricing listed in the report.
Amazon is also discounting the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, The Verge reported. That model is ad-free, includes wireless charging and has twice the storage of the standard model; it is listed at $144.99, down $55 from its $200 price.
What the Paperwhite offers
The Verge’s Sheena Vasani described the Paperwhite as the Kindle she recommends for most people because it covers the main features readers tend to need. She pointed to its IPX8 water-resistance rating as a key advantage, saying it makes the device safer to use around a bath, beach or pool.
That waterproofing separates the Paperwhite from Amazon’s $109.99 entry-level Kindle, according to The Verge. The report says the cheaper Kindle does not match that feature.
The Paperwhite is also pitched as a travel-friendly device. The Verge said it weighs less than an iPhone 17 Pro Max while holding thousands of books and audiobooks, giving readers a way to carry a large library without using much bag space.
Battery life is another selling point cited by The Verge. Vasani wrote that the Paperwhite can often go months between charges, depending on use.
Display and reading features
The current Kindle Paperwhite has a seven-inch display that The Verge described as sharp and usable outdoors in bright sunlight. The device also includes an adjustable warm light for reading in bed or in darker settings.
The Verge said readers can buy or download more titles from Amazon’s Kindle Store directly on the device. That gives the Paperwhite an advantage for travelers or commuters who finish a book and want another without switching devices.
The discounts are part of Amazon’s Prime Day sale, which The Verge said includes several Kindle e-readers. As with many Prime Day prices, availability and pricing can change during the sale.
