A helicopter operated by Saudi Aramco crashed in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, killing all 14 people on board, according to Saudi state media. The report said authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the crash.

The Saudi Press Agency reported the deaths, citing an official source at the country’s Energy Ministry. SPA said the aircraft went down in Ras Tanura.

Saudi Aramco, the state oil company, owned the helicopter, according to SPA. The agency did not provide details on the identities of those killed or say whether they were employees, contractors or crew members.

SPA said an inquiry was under way to determine what caused the crash. No further information was immediately reported on the circumstances of the flight, the type of helicopter or the time of the incident.

The state news agency also conveyed condolences to the families of those who died, citing the official source.
