Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they fired missiles at US fighter jets based in Jordan, marking another reported strike on American military assets in the region. The claim came as Al Jazeera reported that the United States and Iran exchanged attacks for a seventh consecutive night.
Tasnim News, an Iranian outlet, reported that Iranian missiles hit the Al Sulti base in Jordan. Al Jazeera also cited Arab media as saying explosions at US bases in Jordan were loud enough to be heard in the occupied Palestinian territories.
There was no confirmation in the reporting of casualties from the alleged strike in Jordan. Al Jazeera said the wider conflict showed no sign of easing, with US forces striking deeper inside Iran and Tehran responding by targeting Washington’s military presence in the region.
US attacks reported in Iran
Al Jazeera reported that at least three people were killed in US attacks on Iran’s Hormozgan province. It said US forces continued attacks in southern Iran and extended strikes into central areas.
The report did not give further details on the identities of those killed. Hormozgan is in southern Iran, near the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway that has also seen recent violence, according to Iranian media cited by Al Jazeera.
Iranian media reported that two oil tankers exploded and caught fire after passing through minefields in the Strait of Hormuz. Al Jazeera did not report additional details on the vessels, including their names, ownership or crew status.
Gulf states and Gaza also hit
Al Jazeera reported that Iran continued attacks on Gulf countries, including Kuwait. Kuwait’s military said several of its personnel were injured, according to the report.
Violence also continued in Gaza. Al Jazeera reported that an Israeli attack on a funeral killed at least seven Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The fighting has drawn condemnation from the United Nations. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned what his spokesman called “unacceptable” attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran and elsewhere in the Gulf, according to Al Jazeera.
Al Jazeera also reported that satellite imagery showed new damage inside the complex of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. The reporting did not specify the cause of the damage.
The developments form part of a broader conflict involving US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Iranian responses across the region, and continuing Israeli attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, according to Al Jazeera’s coverage.
