Conor McGregor’s first UFC fight in five years ended after 69 seconds when he appeared to injure his right knee against Max Holloway in Las Vegas, Al Jazeera reported. Referee intervention brought the UFC 329 main event to an early close, giving Holloway a first-round TKO win.
The bout took place Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, according to Al Jazeera. McGregor, an Irish former UFC star who had not fought since 2021, was facing Holloway of the United States in a welterweight contest.
Al Jazeera reported that McGregor seemed to hurt the knee while moving in with a kick. The referee then stopped the fight, and Holloway was announced as the winner by technical knockout.
The official fight time was one minute and nine seconds, according to Al Jazeera. The result cut short what had been billed as McGregor’s long-awaited return to the promotion.
Al Jazeera’s report did not include further details on the severity of McGregor’s injury or any post-fight medical update. It also did not report immediate comments from McGregor, Holloway or UFC officials.
