Bose’s second-generation QuietComfort Ultra over-ear headphones have fallen to $379, a $70 cut from their $449 list price, The Verge reported. The deal marks a new low for the model and is available at Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart, according to The Verge.
The discount puts Bose’s latest premium noise-canceling headphones in front of buyers looking for a travel set with updated audio features. The Verge’s Sheena Vasani wrote that the headphones are suited to long flights and train rides because of their noise cancellation and foldable design.
The model keeps the collapsible build used by the first-generation QuietComfort Ultra headphones, The Verge reported, which makes the over-ears easier to store in a carry-on bag. Bose’s product image also shows the headphones folded for storage, according to The Verge.
The headline upgrade is support for lossless audio over a USB-C cable, The Verge reported. That feature allows higher-quality listening from compatible devices when users plug in rather than rely on wireless playback.
The Verge said the second-generation version also improves noise cancellation and adds a Cinema Mode for movies and TV. That mode is designed to make video sound more immersive while helping speech come through more clearly, according to the report.
Bose also updated the transparency mode, The Verge reported. The new version goes beyond the prior model’s ability to soften sudden loud sounds while still letting outside audio pass through.
Battery life has increased as well. The Verge reported that the headphones are rated for up to 30 hours on a charge, six hours longer than the first-generation model.
- Sale price: $379, according to The Verge.
- List price: $449, according to The Verge.
- Retailers named in the deal: Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart.
- Key additions: USB-C lossless audio, Cinema Mode, improved transparency mode and longer battery life.
The Verge also reported several convenience features aimed at reducing battery drain and speeding reconnection. The headphones can enter a low-power standby mode when placed in the included case or laid flat, and they can power on and reconnect to a paired device when worn.
The second-generation QuietComfort Ultra headphones retain soft ear cups and a light design, according to The Verge. Multipoint Bluetooth support also remains, letting users stay connected to two devices at once, such as a laptop for video and a phone for calls.
Deal prices can change without notice. The Verge reported the $379 price on June 13.
