Amazon is selling a four-pack of Terro Fruit Fly Traps for $10.98, a 31% discount from the listed $15.99 price, according to NBC Select. The deal gives shoppers a lower-cost option for targeting fruit flies in kitchens, where NBC Select says the insects can spread quickly and be difficult to clear out.
NBC Select reported that the same four-count set is listed at Home Depot for $13.94. The Amazon price puts each trap below $4.
The Terro trap uses a liquid bait designed to attract fruit flies, NBC Select said. Once the flies enter, the trap holds them inside so they cannot get out and continue breeding, according to the shopping site.
How the trap is designed
The set includes four small traps, allowing users to place them in more than one problem area, NBC Select said. The traps are shaped like small apples, a design the site described as compact enough for counters without taking up much space.
NBC Select said the traps can be placed near common fruit-fly gathering spots, including fruit bowls, sinks and trash cans. The product does not require an outlet, spraying or regular maintenance, according to the report.
The trap’s clear body lets users check activity inside, NBC Select said. The site also said the product is meant to target flies directly rather than using sprays or airborne chemicals, and described it as safe for kitchen counter use.
Why shoppers are looking at it
NBC Select said more than 30,000 Amazon shoppers bought the Terro Fruit Fly Trap in the past month. The site highlighted the four-pack as its deal of the day.
The sale comes during a season when kitchens often hold more fresh fruit and produce, which can draw fruit flies. NBC Select framed the product as a no-mess option for households trying to control flies around food-prep areas.
NBC Select said it independently chooses the products it covers and recommends. The site also disclosed that it may earn a commission when readers buy through its links.
The deal was reported by Bethany Heitman, a commerce editor at NBC Select who covers lifestyle, home and wellness topics. NBC Select said Heitman has covered sales and major shopping events, including Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, for more than a decade.
