Target starts early back-to-school discounts with deals up to 76%

Target has opened an early back-to-school sale with discounts of up to 76% on school-related items, according to NBC Select. The sale covers products sold online and in stores, giving families a chance to buy backpacks, lunch supplies, art materials and other basics before classrooms reopen.
NBC Select said its editors independently choose the products they cover and may earn a commission when readers buy through its links. The roundup focused on several school-year categories, including bags, writing supplies, lunch containers and electronics.
Featured deals in the sale
The largest discount highlighted by NBC Select was on the Vera Bradley Lighten Up Backpack, listed at Target for $38.16, down from $159. NBC Select described the backpack as a lightweight bag with multiple compartments for books, tech and daily items.
A 12-count pack of Crayola Pre-Sharpened Colored Pencils was listed at 99 cents, reduced from $2.19, according to NBC Select. The pack comes ready to use and was presented as a basic supply for classwork, homework and art projects.
Target also listed the Leven Sixteen Bento Box at $35.99, compared with $77.94, NBC Select reported. The lunch container has four compartments and a BPA-free design, and NBC Select said it is dishwasher safe.
For lunch bags, NBC Select pointed to the All In Motion Faux Neoprene Lunch Tote at $10.50, down from $15. The tote is insulated, made from faux neoprene and sized for carrying to school or work, according to the report.
The Simple Modern 30-ounce Summit Water Bottle was listed at $23.99, reduced from $29.99, NBC Select said. The bottle is insulated, has a 30-ounce capacity and is designed for daily use in a backpack, according to the product description cited in the roundup.
