Amazon discounts air conditioners and fans as summer heat builds
NBC Selected reported price cuts on cooling products from Shark, LG, KoolSiln and Levoit, including air conditioners and portable fans.

Amazon is discounting a group of air conditioners, fans and portable cooling products as parts of the country face triple-digit temperatures, according to NBC Selected. The deals matter for shoppers looking for lower-cost cooling options, though NBC Selected described them as limited-time offers.
NBC Selected, NBC News’ shopping arm, said it independently chooses products it covers and may earn a commission when readers buy through its links. The sale includes window air conditioners, portable units, tower fans, handheld fans and cooling accessories.
Featured deals
One of the main offers is the Shark ChillPill 2-in-1 Personal Cooling System, which NBC Selected listed at $99.99 on Amazon, down from $129.99. That is a 23% discount, and NBC Selected said the price brings the device to its lowest level to date.
According to NBC Selected, the Shark device has 968 Amazon reviews and combines a handheld fan with a dry-touch mist feature. NBC Selected said the rechargeable battery lasts up to 11 hours, the fan has 10 speed settings and the unit can be carried or worn hands-free. A newer 3-in-1 version includes an InstaChill cooling plate, according to NBC Selected.
The LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, model LW6017R, is also included in the sale. NBC Selected listed the unit at $199, down from $249, a 20% discount. The product had 6,088 Amazon reviews in the listing cited by NBC Selected.
NBC Selected said the LG unit has remote controls, an advertised noise level of 52 decibels, a weight of 39.6 pounds and dimensions of 14.38 by 17.31 by 11.13 inches. NBC Selected’s specifications list said the air conditioner has an 11.3 CEER rating and is not Energy Star certified.
For shoppers who cannot install a window unit, NBC Selected pointed to the KoolSiln 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner. Amazon listed it at $379.98, down from $629.99, according to NBC Selected, a 40% discount. The product had 72 Amazon reviews in the listing.
NBC Selected said the KoolSiln model has built-in wheels and is designed for rooms up to 550 square feet. The brand says the unit can also work as a fan and dehumidifier and uses an auto-evaporation system so collected water only needs occasional emptying, according to NBC Selected.
Fan and accessory discounts
The Levoit Tower Fan is priced at $54.95, down from $74.99, according to NBC Selected. That is a 27% discount, and NBC Selected said it was the fan’s lowest recorded price. The product had 10,644 Amazon reviews in the listing.
NBC Selected said the Levoit fan has five speeds, four cooling modes, a timer, remote control and a nighttime feature. The fan can adjust airflow based on surrounding temperatures, according to NBC Selected.
