A proposed Yan Diomande Real Madrid transfer advanced on Monday after the Spanish club reached agreement on personal terms with the RB Leipzig winger, the BBC reported. The development matters because Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool had both pursued the 19-year-old before pulling back.
Diomande plays mainly from the right side and is an Ivory Coast international. Al Jazeera reported that he made his national-team debut at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where he was Ivory Coast’s leading performer as the team reached the round of 32.
Has Yan Diomande signed for Real Madrid?
The BBC report cited an agreement on personal terms, which refers to the player’s contract with the buying club. It did not say Real Madrid had completed the transfer or that RB Leipzig had accepted a fee.
The reported contract structure is said by the BBC to resemble Jude Bellingham’s Real Madrid deal, with performance incentives and terms that improve year by year. That would put Madrid in position to finalize the move if club-level terms with Leipzig are settled.
PSG and Liverpool had both tested Leipzig’s position before ending their interest, according to the BBC. The report said both clubs saw offers rejected, and that PSG’s final bid on Sunday was estimated at 102.5 million pounds, or $136.75m.
Why clubs are chasing Diomande
Diomande’s rise has been rapid. Al Jazeera reported that he joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes less than a year ago and quickly became one of the Bundesliga’s most productive young attackers.
He scored 12 league goals and added eight assists during Leipzig’s 2025-26 Bundesliga season. Leipzig finished third, a result that secured a place in the UEFA Champions League for the next campaign.
Diomande was also voted the Bundesliga’s best young player of the season, according to Al Jazeera. The 1.8-metre, or 5-foot-11, winger is known for pace, ball-carrying and athleticism, and has become a regular goal threat from wide positions.
For Real Madrid, the reported move would fit a pattern of targeting young players with high resale value and room to develop. The BBC’s account places Madrid ahead of two major rivals, with PSG and Liverpool no longer active after their rejected bids.
Leipzig’s Champions League qualification also gives the German club leverage. Diomande was central to that campaign, and any completed transfer would require Madrid to satisfy Leipzig as well as the player.
