Solos has announced the AirGo A6, a new pair of smart glasses that leaves out cameras in favor of a thinner, lighter design. The model matters in a crowded smart-glasses field because it pushes AI features through voice and audio rather than image capture.
The AirGo A6 weighs about 19 grams, according to Solos. That is a sharp reduction from the company’s AirGo A5, which The Verge reported weighed between 36 and 40 grams depending on the frame.
Solos reduced the size in part by using slimmer temple arms, The Verge reported. Those arms still contain the speakers, batteries and other electronics needed to power the glasses’ smart features.
The company has not finalized pricing or availability for the AirGo A6. Solos says the glasses will support full prescription lens compatibility and will be sold in several styles, including transparent versions that show some of the internal electronics.
The AirGo A6’s feature set centers on hands-free AI tools. According to Solos, users will be able to ask an assistant questions with voice commands, use real-time translation and receive calendar reminders.
The glasses also work for music and phone calls. The Verge reported that the speakers sit behind the wearer’s ears, allowing audio playback while leaving outside sound audible.
Solos is positioning the AirGo A6 differently from camera-equipped smart glasses. The Verge noted that Meta’s new glasses, announced last month, weigh roughly 54 grams to nearly 60 grams depending on the style.
Privacy accessories for AirGo V2
Solos also introduced privacy-focused add-ons for its AirGo V2 smart glasses, a camera-equipped model that debuted last year. The new accessories include transparent replacement temples that contain no power and come in multiple colors.
The company also announced a clip-on privacy shield for the AirGo V2. The shield physically blocks the camera’s view, according to Solos.
The replacement temples cost $39. Solos is also selling the privacy shield in a $49 package that includes clip-on sunglasses designed to add UV protection and reduce glare.
A larger privacy accessory bundle costs $79, according to the company. That package includes all of the privacy accessories announced alongside the AirGo A6.
