Prime Day is producing gaming discounts, but The Verge reports the savings are concentrated on games and accessories rather than the main Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox consoles. For buyers waiting on cheaper hardware, the better opportunities appear to be physical game copies, some digital versions and peripherals.
The Verge’s Antonio G. Di Benedetto reported that Amazon has discounts on new and recent titles for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. He also noted that most of the Amazon game deals are for physical copies, though some digital versions match or beat those prices, and Best Buy is matching some offers.
Switch and Switch 2 discounts lead the list
Best Buy has marked down select Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games in both physical and digital formats, according to The Verge. The publication highlighted Street Fighter 6 Year 1-2 Fighters Edition for Switch 2 at $29.99, listed as $30 off, and Super Mario Odyssey at $39.99 in either physical or digital form, listed as $20 off.
Amazon is selling Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Switch 2 at $45, down from $69, according to The Verge. The Verge described the game as the first mainline Pokémon title with real-time battling, while still retaining catching, leveling, trading and battling in a Paris-inspired setting.
The Verge also listed a Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope dual pack at $10 for Prime members at Amazon. According to The Verge, the package is a download code in a box and includes both Nintendo Switch strategy games.
Other Nintendo-related offers cited by The Verge include Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for Switch 2 at $44.99 at Amazon, listed as $25 off, and the original Switch version at $29.99, listed as $30 off. The Verge also reported Kirby Air Riders at $49.94 at Amazon, listed as $20 off.
PS5, Xbox and PC games are also included
For multiplatform releases, The Verge listed Resident Evil Requiem at $56 for PS5 at Amazon, $53 for Switch 2 at Amazon and $56 for Xbox Series X at Amazon. It also pointed to a Steam version at Fanatical for $48.
The Verge highlighted Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe Edition at $20 at Amazon with an extra poster, compared with $55 at Best Buy. It also listed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at $25 for PS5 at Amazon and $25 for Xbox at Walmart.
Accessories are part of the sale mix as well, according to The Verge. The publication said gaming headsets, controllers and gaming mice are among the categories worth watching, while also advising Switch 2 owners to look at microSD Express cards.
The Verge cautioned that PlayStation 5 SSD deals may be less compelling, saying those drives remain expensive. Among controller deals, it listed the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro at $142 at Amazon for Xbox and PC, with Walmart showing another listing at $170.
