iRobot has introduced its first floor-cleaning product that is not a robot, expanding the Roomba brand into a category users push by hand. The $399 Roomba Electro Plus matters because it arrives alongside a broader refresh of iRobot’s robot vacuum lineup, with five new US models priced below the products they largely replace, according to The Verge.
The company describes the Roomba Electro Plus as a cordless hard-floor cleaner that vacuums, mops and disinfects. Unlike a Roomba robot, the device requires manual operation, though iRobot says a motor helps propel it to reduce effort.
According to iRobot, the cleaner is designed only for hard floors and uses a self-cleaning roller mop. Its dock washes and dries the mop with hot water and hot air after cleaning, while users still need to empty, clean and refill the water tank, The Verge reported.
A Roomba that users push
iRobot says the Electro Plus can make a disinfecting cleaning solution from ordinary tap water through electrolysis. The Verge reported that the technology comes from Picea, iRobot’s parent company, and is designed to produce a commercial-grade sanitizing solution without a separate detergent.
iRobot says the resulting solution can kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other germs. Adam Pope, iRobot’s chief engineer and vice president, told The Verge that customers had asked for a product that could handle quick messes while Roomba robots cleaned elsewhere in the home.
Picea acquired iRobot this year after iRobot filed for bankruptcy, according to The Verge. The companies had worked together before the deal, including on iRobot’s lidar-based Roomba models introduced in 2025, The Verge reported.
Five new robot vacuums for the US
Along with the manual cleaner, iRobot announced five Roomba robot vacuums for the US market. The Verge reported that the models were first announced in Europe in May and are mostly updates to last year’s lineup, with smaller designs, stronger suction and lower prices.
The Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + Auto Wash Dock costs $999.99, according to iRobot. The Verge reported that it upgrades the Roomba Max 705 Combo with 30,000Pa suction, hot-water mop washing and hot-water stain cleaning.
The Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot + Auto Empty Dock costs $699.99, according to iRobot. The Verge reported that it raises suction to 30,000Pa from 13,000Pa on the earlier Roomba Max 705, while retaining lidar navigation, AI-powered obstacle detection and dual rubber roller brushes.
The Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock costs $799.99, according to iRobot. The Verge reported that it replaces the Roomba 505, uses a new dual-lidar sensor, has 20,000Pa suction, dual spinning mop pads, hot-water mop washing and drying, an onboard water tank, a camera for AI obstacle and dirt detection, and threshold climbing up to 35mm.
The Roomba Plus 515 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock costs $699.99, according to iRobot. The Verge reported that it is similar to the 575 but has lower suction, lower threshold clearance and no camera, which means it does not offer AI-powered obstacle or stain detection.
The Roomba Plus 415 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock costs $599.99, according to iRobot. The Verge reported that it replaces the Roomba 405, adds stronger suction and anti-tangle brush technology, but lacks an onboard water tank and does not wash mops with hot water.
The Verge reported that the US lineup does not include the Roomba Plus 615, Roomba 675 roller-mop models or the entry-level Roomba 115 Combo, which are sold in other countries. iRobot says the new models are available for preorder on irobot.com starting July 7.
