iFixit has introduced a new toolkit aimed at household jobs rather than the electronics repairs the company is best known for. The $34.95 Megalodon Driver Kit targets tasks such as appliance repair, furniture assembly, automotive tinkering and general home DIY, according to iFixit.

The Verge reports that the kit marks a broader use case for iFixit, whose public profile has been built around gadget teardowns and tools for opening and troubleshooting consumer electronics. iFixit describes the Megalodon Driver Kit as a compact kit for modern home repairs.

A driver designed for speed and force

The main tool in the kit is the Megalodon driver, which uses a bright blue end piece that iFixit calls the Swivel Grip Cap. According to iFixit, the cap lets the screwdriver shaft rotate while the user holds the end steady, a setup meant to help remove screws quickly.

For jobs that need more force, iFixit says pressing down on the Swivel Grip Cap locks it in place. That turns the tool into a static driver so the user can apply more torque by hand when tightening screws or other fasteners.

iFixit presents the design as an alternative to a traditional ratcheting screwdriver. The company says the driver can switch between a free-spinning mode and a fixed mode without requiring the user to change the direction of a ratchet mechanism.

Longer bits for recessed fasteners

The kit also includes 16 extended bits with 2-inch shanks, according to iFixit. The company says the longer reach is intended for fasteners inside appliances or behind panels, where shorter bits may be harder to use.

iFixit says the bit selection was chosen for fasteners people commonly encounter in home repair, furniture assembly, automotive work and other DIY projects. The set includes Phillips, flathead, hex and square bits, along with several six-pointed TR bits and a quarter-inch socket adapter, according to the company.

Case doubles as a parts tray

As with its other toolkits, iFixit packs the Megalodon driver and bits in a foam tray with large white labels for each slot, according to The Verge. The layout is meant to make tools easier to identify during a repair or assembly job.

The kit comes in a plastic case with a magnetic lid, iFixit says. That lid can also be used as a sorting tray for screws and other small fasteners, a feature intended to reduce the chance of losing parts in the middle of a project.

The Megalodon Driver Kit is listed by iFixit at $34.95. The Verge reports that the kit was announced on July 7, 2026.
