The team behind the Flipper Zero is preparing to sell Busy Bar, a desk display meant to signal when a user does not want interruptions. The Verge reported that the device will become available and start shipping on July 14, putting a public sale date on a gadget first announced in April 2025.
According to The Verge, Busy Bar is positioned by its maker, Flipper Devices, as a “productivity multitool” rather than another wireless utility device like the Flipper Zero. Its main job is to put a clear status message in front of coworkers, family members or roommates before they interrupt someone who is working.
The device will sell for $249 at its regular price, The Verge reported. The first 3,000 units sold on July 14 will be priced at $199, while people who previously signed up for the Busy Bar waitlist will be able to buy it for $179, according to the report.
The Verge said Busy Bar resembles a small alarm clock, but it is designed for placement around a work area. It can sit on a desk, rest on top of a monitor or cubicle wall, or be mounted on a wall or door, according to the report.
Busy Bar uses a 72-by-16 pixel LED display, The Verge reported. With a button press, the screen can show a prominent status message, and that message can include a countdown timer to tell others when the user expects to be available again.
The Verge also reported that Busy Bar can start a Pomodoro timer and silence notifications on other devices. That gives the product a broader role than a passive “do not disturb” sign, though the display remains the most visible part of the design.
According to The Verge, Flipper Devices says Busy Bar is Matter-compatible. The report said that compatibility lets it work with smart home devices when a user wants to focus and reduce distractions.
The launch gives Flipper Devices a new consumer product outside the wireless multitool category that made the Flipper Zero well known among gadget enthusiasts. The Verge described Busy Bar as aimed at a more ordinary workplace problem: making availability visible before a meeting, work session or timed focus period is interrupted.
