Signage.com has added an AI Design Studio to its online custom sign ordering process, giving small businesses a way to see possible designs before asking for a quote. The Philadelphia-based company is applying generative AI to a category that often still depends on phone calls, forms and back-and-forth design discussions.
The tool is meant for business owners considering signage for storefronts, offices, restaurants, retail spaces, medical practices, salons, gyms and professional service locations. Custom signs can involve brand fit, placement, materials, lighting and production choices, making them harder to buy online than standard printed goods.
Users start by entering business details, uploading a logo or other brand asset, and selecting the kind of sign they are considering. The Design Studio then creates visual concepts that show possible combinations of layouts, colors, materials and sign styles.
The output is not a finished production order. Each project still goes through review by signage staff, quote confirmation and production planning before final approval.
Hassan Qureshi, chief executive of Signage.com, said the aim is to reduce guesswork before a business commits to a physical sign. He said signage is often one of the first real-world expressions of a company’s brand, and the Design Studio gives owners a visual starting point before quote review.
The launch places AI inside the buying flow rather than treating it as a separate design toy. That distinction matters for small companies that may not have an in-house designer but still need to make practical choices about how a sign will look on a building, wall or storefront.
Signage.com said it is among the first signage companies to build an AI-powered design tool directly into an online custom signage workflow. The company describes the feature as a way to begin a project with clearer visual direction instead of starting from a blank intake form.
The AI custom sign Design Studio is available now as the starting point for customers preparing to request a quote. The company said its management team has more than 30 years of combined experience in the signage industry.
For the sign business, the move reflects a broader shift in how physical products are sold online. Buyers increasingly expect previews and configuration tools before purchase, even when the final item must still be reviewed, fabricated and installed through a more traditional process.
