Walmart is still selling physical preorders of Splatoon Raiders at roughly the same price as the digital edition ahead of the game’s July 23 release, according to The Verge. The deal matters for Switch 2 buyers who want a cartridge without paying Nintendo’s higher physical-game price.

The digital version of Splatoon Raiders costs $49.99, The Verge reported. Walmart is the listed retailer still showing the physical preorder discount, with The Verge’s deal card putting the cartridge at $49.94.

Amazon had previously matched the lower preorder price, according to The Verge, but its listing was showing $59.99 at the time of the report. The Verge also noted that Amazon preorders are covered by the retailer’s price policy, meaning buyers pay the lowest price offered between the time they order and release day.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 pricing split

Nintendo said in March that some Switch 2 digital games would cost $10 less than their physical versions, The Verge reported. The Splatoon Raiders preorder window follows a pattern seen with other Switch 2 games, where the discounter price for physical copies appeared before launch.

The Verge cited Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Star Fox as earlier releases that had extended preorder periods in which digital and physical editions were priced the same. Those offers gave cartridge buyers a chance to avoid the usual $10 gap before launch.

Splatoon Raiders is a Switch 2 exclusive with an emphasis on single-player play, according to The Verge. The game also includes cooperative multiplayer, allowing up to four players to team up locally or online.

Other current deals

The Verge also highlighted a limited edition 4K Blu-ray set of The Sopranos scheduled for December. Gruv is taking preorders for the 28-disc set at $149.99, and The Verge said new Gruv customers can use the code FIRSTGRUV15 to bring the price to $127.50.

Another deal cited by The Verge is the CMF by Nothing Headphone Pro at Amazon for $69, down from $99. The over-ear wireless headphones include active noise cancellation, app-based equalizer controls and an “energy slider” for adjusting the sound balance.

Wellbots is also running a July 16 birthday sale, according to The Verge, with the code BDAY13 taking 13 percent off many already discounted items. The sale includes products such as Boox’s Palma 2 Pro, robot vacuums from Dreame, DJI drones and Xgimi projectors.
