Amazon has discounted the SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan to $89.99 for Prime Day, according to The Verge. The deal cuts $40 from the fan’s usual $129.99 price, putting a battery-powered smart-home fan below $100 during the sale.
The Verge’s Brad Bourque reported that the upright circulator is also available from SwitchBot for $91 with the code PDDAY30. The deal centers on a model that The Verge described as more flexible than many fans in the same price range because it can tilt vertically, sweep horizontally and change height.
What the fan does
The Verge reported that the SwitchBot fan adjusts from 18 inches to 40 inches tall. Its head can move air with both vertical tilt and horizontal oscillation, a combination intended to help circulate air around a room rather than only blow in one fixed direction.
The fan uses a brushless motor that The Verge said is suited to a bedroom or home office. From about a meter away, its sound level ranges from 28dB at the quiet end to 50dB at full power, according to The Verge.
The device runs on a rechargeable battery. The Verge reported that battery life is about two hours when the fan is running at top speed with all features enabled, while the lowest setting can last through the night. Users can also power it with a USB-C power bank, according to the report.
Smart-home support has limits
Like other SwitchBot devices, the standing circulator can work with Alexa, Siri or Google Home when paired with a Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub, The Verge reported. That integration is limited, however: The Verge said the available smart-home command only turns the fan on or off.
For speed and oscillation changes, users must rely on the fan’s built-in buttons or the included remote, according to The Verge. The report said the remote stores magnetically on the rear of the fan, where it sits near an optional night light.
The Verge described the SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan as a quiet, battery-powered fan that moves a notable amount of air for its size. The Prime Day pricing makes the fan one of the more prominent smart-home accessory discounts in Amazon’s sale, based on the pricing reported by The Verge and Amazon.
