Laptop shoppers are seeing discounts during Amazon Prime Day 2026 after months of price increases across new PCs. The Verge reported that higher RAM, storage and component costs have affected models already on shelves as well as new releases.

The sale prices do not erase the broader increase in laptop costs, according to The Verge’s Antonio G. Di Benedetto. But the deals may help buyers who need a new machine now and want to avoid used or refurbished options.

The Verge said Amazon’s Prime Day sale is being matched in some cases by rival promotions, including Best Buy’s Tech Fest Sale. The outlet also noted that some listed Amazon prices are limited to Prime members.

MacBook discounts

Apple’s base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip is listed at $1,549, a $150 discount, at Amazon and Best Buy, according to The Verge. The configuration includes 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage, and The Verge said it has enough power for typical content-creation work.

The M5 MacBook Air is also discounted, according to the report. The 13-inch model is listed at $950 at Amazon and $949 at Best Buy, while the 15-inch version is $1,150 at Amazon.

For buyers seeking a higher-end Apple laptop, The Verge reported that the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro chip, 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage is $2,034 at Amazon and $2,049 at Best Buy. The Verge said the M5 Pro model adds more memory, a stronger chip and Thunderbolt 5 ports over the standard M5 version.

Windows laptops

Microsoft’s 13-inch Surface Laptop is $1,089 at Best Buy and $1,099 at Amazon for a 512GB configuration, according to The Verge. The outlet said the smaller Surface Laptop keeps strong battery life and solid performance, though it trims some features from the larger 13.8-inch model.

Among lower-cost Windows options, The Verge listed Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3x at $449 at Walmart, $251 off. The Verge said the laptop has a Snapdragon X processor and long battery life, but warned that its speakers and trackpad are weak points.

The Acer Aspire 14 AI is $589.99 at Amazon for Prime members and $599.99 at Best Buy through Acer, The Verge reported. The outlet said it has an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V processor, Thunderbolt 4 and enough graphics power for light gaming, while its display, speakers and build quality are compromises.

The Verge also highlighted Acer’s Swift X 14 AI at $1,559.99 at Amazon for Prime members, $140 off. That model has a 14-inch 2880 x 1800 120Hz OLED display, an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, RTX 5060 graphics, 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage, according to the report.

Gaming PCs and accessories

Best Buy has the 2025 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 for $1,450, down from $2,300, according to The Verge. The listed configuration includes an AMD Ryzen 9 270 processor, RTX 5060 graphics, 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

The larger Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is $1,574.99 at Best Buy, $575 off, The Verge reported. Its configuration includes a 240Hz OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor, RTX 5070 graphics, 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage.

Other gaming deals cited by The Verge include HP’s Omen 16 at $1,619.99 through a third-party Best Buy seller, Lenovo’s Legion 5i at $1,589 at Walmart, Acer’s Predator Helios Neo 16 AI at $1,600 at Amazon and Acer’s Nitro V 16S AI at $1,099.99 for Prime members.

Peripheral deals are smaller but still present. The Verge listed Logitech’s MX Master 3S mouse at $90 at Amazon and Best Buy, and Keychron’s V5 Ultra mechanical keyboard at $107.99 at Amazon.
