Oakland police are investigating a reported nvidia cargo theft oakland case involving six pallets of hardware valued at $11.4 million that were supposed to go to Fort Worth, Texas. The shipment was collected in Oakland on Aug. 29 but did not reach its destination, according to the Mercury News and ABC7.
The case remains unresolved more than two months after the pickup. Oakland police said the victim reported a grand theft in East Oakland on Sept. 13, and authorities had announced no arrests. Ars Technica reported that the cargo had not been recovered.
What is known about the Nvidia cargo theft in Oakland?
The Mercury News reported that the six pallets were collected by a truck carrying the logo of a food-transportation company, apparently as scheduled. The vehicle was headed south toward Texas, but investigators later lost its trail in San Bernardino County, according to the newspaper and ABC7.
Before investigators lost track of the truck, it made several stops lasting multiple hours, the Mercury News reported. The reports do not identify the specific Nvidia products in the shipment or say how the goods were taken.
In its statement to ABC7, the Oakland Police Department said it was investigating a grand theft in East Oakland. Police have not publicly described the method used in the reported theft. KTVU also reported that court records indicate an Oakland police investigation and that the truck's drivers and vehicle could no longer be tracked during the trip.
What remains unknown?
Authorities have not publicly identified the hardware beyond describing it as Nvidia equipment, according to Ars Technica. There has also been no public account of who took the shipment or what happened after investigators lost track of the truck in San Bernardino County.
The shipment's stated value and the planned route were reported by the Mercury News, ABC7 and KTVU, based on authorities and court records. Those reports describe an investigation into a reported theft; they do not establish a motive or a resale plan for the equipment.
Earlier Nvidia cargo cases in the Bay Area
The new investigation follows separate 2025 burglaries involving Nvidia cargo in Fremont and Union City that totaled more than $7.5 million, according to the Mercury News and ABC7. The reporting does not establish that those cases are linked to the Oakland investigation.
Police in those earlier incidents believed a group had obtained vehicles in Southern California and traveled to the Bay Area, the Mercury News reported. No such connection has been publicly announced in the case involving the six pallets headed to Fort Worth.
