The Baseus AM52 10,000mAh power bank is selling for $42.99 at Amazon with the promo code THEVERGECODE, according to The Verge. The deal matters for iPhone users looking for a lower-cost MagSafe-compatible battery with Qi2.2 wireless charging and a built-in USB-C cable.

The Verge’s Cameron Faulkner reported that the discount runs through June 30. He said the AM52 usually costs $20 more for Amazon Prime members, or $80 when it is not on sale.

Faulkner said the AM52 stood out in his recent guide to Qi2 power banks, which covered seven batteries. He described the Baseus model as fast over Qi2.2 wireless charging for iPhones and quick when charging over a wired connection.

What the AM52 offers

According to The Verge, the AM52 can charge devices through Qi2.2 and USB-C at the same time. Its built-in USB-C cable means users do not need to carry a separate cable for wired charging, a practical advantage for travel or everyday carry.

The power bank is also aimed at iPhone owners who want a magnetic battery pack. The Verge described it as MagSafe-compatible, while noting that iPhone users have many other power bank choices with similar charging goals.

Faulkner said the Baseus model may be a better fit for people who use an iPhone without a case. In his testing, he said it was the only model with a soft-touch surface at the magnetic contact point, which he said removes the risk of scratching the phone where the battery attaches.

How it compares

The Verge said some rival power banks with comparable specifications charge gadgets just as quickly. Faulkner also reported that certain competitors were faster for wired charging, based on measurements he made with a USB-C power meter.

The AM52 does leave out some extras that appear on other batteries, according to The Verge. Faulkner listed a cooling fan, a kickstand and a display showing remaining charge among the features found elsewhere but missing here.

At the sale price, Faulkner said those omissions are less of a drawback. His assessment centers on the AM52’s charging speed, built-in cable, magnetic design and lower price during the promotion.

The Verge disclosed that Vox Media may earn a commission if readers buy products through its links. The listed Amazon discount requires entering the code THEVERGECODE before the June 30 deadline, according to the publication.
