Cécred brand review finds Beyoncé hair care line strong for dry natural hair
NBC Select tested Cécred for three months, praising several products for dry, natural and braided hair while noting some drawbacks.

NBC Select’s latest Cécred brand review says Beyoncé’s hair care line performed especially well for dry natural hair after three months of testing. The review matters for shoppers because the brand has drawn wide attention, and the tested products range from $28 to $56.
NBC Select editor Ashley Morris tested products across Cécred’s Foundation, Protection and Styling collections. She reported that several items helped with moisture, detangling, braid takedowns and scalp care, while some products came with trade-offs such as strong fragrance, tingling sensations or more involved application steps.
Is Cécred worth it for dry natural hair?
According to NBC Select, Cécred was strongest in products aimed at moisture and repair. Morris said the Hydrating Shampoo, priced at $32, was among the most moisturizing shampoos she had tried and worked well with the matching $32 Hydrating Conditioner.
The Foundation Collection also includes the $40 Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, which NBC Select named its best treatment. Morris said it softened dry or brittle hair and worked with or without the warm towel step Cécred recommends, though the brand says a warm towel gives the best results.
NBC Select named the $53 Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Ritual its best splurge. Morris said the two-step rice water and rose protein treatment appeared to reduce breakage after the first use, but she also found the process inconvenient and said it could leave hair feeling dry unless followed by a conditioner.
Which Cécred products stood out?
NBC Select’s editor’s pick was the $48 Oil Ritual. Morris said the oil treatment made her hair feel softer and less brittle, including on a wash day when she did not use other Cécred products. The brand recommends warming the oil before applying it, according to NBC Select.
The $28 Detangling Spray was named the best budget pick under $30. Morris said it cut her pre-wash detangling time to 30 minutes or less, compared with her usual 45 minutes to an hour, and did not leave residue, flakes or crunchiness.
NBC Select also highlighted the $56 Restoring Hair & Edge Drops as a fan favorite. Morris said she used the drops after thinning around her hairline from knotless braids and saw new growth in patchy areas after three months, while recommending the small bottle more as a targeted treatment than a full-head product.
How did Cécred perform for braids and scalp care?
For protective styles, NBC Select pointed to the $38 Scalp Refreshing Spray, the Detangling Spray, the Oil Ritual and the $39 Detoxifying Shampoo. Morris said the scalp spray’s precision nozzle helped target itchy areas around braids, though she noted the menthol cooling effect can feel intense.
Morris said the Detoxifying Shampoo worked well for washing braids or cleaning hair after braid removal because it removed buildup. NBC Select reported that the shampoo has a blue color that Cécred says can help prevent brassiness in chemically treated hair, and Morris noted a strong cooling tingle on the scalp.
