Amazon is selling a Blink home security bundle with a video doorbell and five outdoor cameras for $166.99. The deal matters for shoppers looking to cover multiple entrances or outdoor areas, though local video storage requires an additional purchase.
The bundle includes a Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+, five Blink Outdoor 2K+ cameras and a Blink Sync Module Core, according to Amazon’s listing cited by The Verge. The Verge reported that the doorbell usually sells for $70, while each outdoor camera generally costs between $80 and $100, putting the bundle’s savings at least $200 compared with buying the devices separately.
What the Blink bundle includes
The Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ records at 1920 by 1920 resolution and has a 140-degree field of view, according to The Verge. It runs on three AA batteries and can last for months between replacements, The Verge reported.
The Blink Outdoor 2K+ cameras record at 2560 by 1440 resolution and have a 135-degree field of view. Blink says two AA batteries can power each camera for up to two years, according to The Verge.
Both the doorbell and outdoor cameras include two-way audio and color night vision in low light, The Verge reported. Those features make the set more useful for both answering a front door and checking outdoor activity after dark.
Storage costs are the catch
The included Sync Module is the Core model, not the Sync Module 2. The Verge reported that buyers who want to store video locally need the Sync Module 2, which costs $49.99.
Amazon also offers a Blink cloud storage plan that starts at $11.99 a month, according to The Verge. That plan includes video storage for as long as 60 days, while the free plan is limited to live viewing and motion alerts.
