New Horizons, a senior-living community in Marlborough, says it has received a Massachusetts senior living award from Programming Insider. The announcement is relevant to families comparing local care options, but it does not establish what category was judged or how the reported statewide ranking was scored.

The August 2026 announcement, syndicated through GlobeNewswire, describes the recognition as “Best Senior Living in Massachusetts.” It identifies the recipient as New Horizons in Marlborough and attributes the designation to Programming Insider.

What is known about the New Horizons award?

The published announcement says Programming Insider evaluated senior-living communities across Massachusetts. It does not include the underlying ranking, the criteria used, a scoring methodology or an explanation of whether the designation covered an overall category or particular services.

That missing detail matters because senior-living communities can offer different levels of housing and support. Independent living generally serves residents who can live on their own with services and amenities, while assisted living provides help with daily tasks; memory care provides specialized support for people with memory loss.

A U.S. News listing places New Horizons in Marlborough and Hearthstone at New Horizons at 402 Hemenway St. The listing identifies independent living, assisted living and memory care among its services, with reported size ranges of 101 to 199 independent-living units, 51 to 75 assisted-living units and 31 to 50 memory-care units.

The same U.S. News listing says the Marlborough facility is not a continuing-care retirement community. The GlobeNewswire announcement also describes New Horizons as a not-for-profit community for adults 62 and older and says it is operated by Cummings Foundation.

Which New Horizons location was recognized?

The announcement points to Marlborough, but a separate Facebook post from New Horizons at Choate in Woburn says that community was ranked No. 1 in Massachusetts in a recent Programming Insider report. The post does not specify the report’s date, category or method, and it does not explain whether the result applied to the Woburn location, the Marlborough location or both.

New Horizons spokesperson Joyce Vyriotes called the recognition a reflection of the staff’s work. Readers seeking details on the Marlborough senior-living services can compare the facility’s stated offerings with the type of care a prospective resident needs.
