GODHOUSESTARS said it released “The Universe’s Floor (Radio Edit)” through its Pink Cloud DNA imprint on July 17. The announcement matters as a snapshot of how artist and author Todd Smith is tying a Nashville-made recording to a self-directed rights, distribution and advocacy effort.
An Aug. 10 press release described the track as a 2-minute, 29-second alternative hip-hop/rap recording written by Smith, produced by Adot and engineered by Ernesto Olvera-LaPier. It said the song was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
Who wrote and produced GODHOUSESTARS’ “The Universe’s Floor (Radio Edit)”?
According to the announcement, Smith wrote the song, Adot produced it and Olvera-LaPier engineered it. The release frames its subject matter around self-reflection, vulnerability, faith, forgiveness and personal renewal, with lyrics about confronting fear, regret and isolation.
A public video on the artist’s YouTube channel carries the same title and runs 2 minutes and 29 seconds, but is listed as uploaded July 4, 13 days before the release date stated in the press material. Neither the press release nor the video description explains whether that upload was an earlier release, a preview or another version.
How is the release being handled?
The announcement says GODHOUSESTARS operates from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, with music-related work in Nashville. It characterizes the arrangement as one in which Smith oversees songwriting, creative development, publishing, release plans, brand direction and synchronization inquiries while using outside producers, engineers and distribution services as needed.
The same release says rights and royalty administration includes registrations and relationships with BMI and the Mechanical Licensing Collective, while RouteNote handles digital distribution. It also says the project manages music-use, synchronization and licensing inquiries directly; those arrangements are described by the artist in the announcement.
For independent artists, such a setup can mean retaining control over creative work and release planning while contracting particular technical or distribution tasks to other companies. The announcement presents the Nashville-recorded radio edit as part of that broader approach rather than a standalone release.
How does the single connect to sober-living advocacy?
The press release links the track to a wider GODHOUSESTARS body of philosophical writing, visual art and sober-living advocacy. It says Smith identifies as a sober musician and supports substance-prevention education through Bluebonnetesios.
The release says Bluebonnetesios was founded in Hopkinsville on July 11 and uses a bluebonnet image to encourage people to avoid alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs. Its stated mission includes education, dialogue, personal responsibility, public service and community engagement.
